• Degree in Engineering: From a university incorporated by an Act of Central/State Legislature, or other institutions established by Act of Parliament, or deemed universities under UGC Act 1956.
• Alternative Qualifications: Passed Sections A and B of Institution of Engineers (India) exams; or degree/diploma from foreign institutions recognized by Government; or Graduate Membership of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or Associate Membership Parts II/III Sections A/B of Aeronautical Society of India; or Graduate Membership of Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London (post Nov 1959).
• Specific for Certain Posts: For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics) and Indian Radio Regulatory Service: M.Sc. or equivalent in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering; or Master's in Science with Physics and Radio Communication/Electronics/Telecommunication.

• Stage I: Engineering Services (Preliminary/Stage-I) Examination (Objective Type Papers).
• Stage II: Engineering Services (Mains/Stage-II) Examination (Conventional Type Papers).
• Stage III: Personality Test.
