Passed 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. for NTPC categories. 50% marks are not required for SC/ST/Ex- servicemen/Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates and in case of candidates who possess qualifications higher than the essential minimum qualification OR Matriculation plus Course Completed Act Apprentice approved by NCVT/SCVT for technical categories. OR Matriculation plus ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT for Technical Categories. Candidates should possess requisite academic & professional qualification on the date of submission of application. Those who are appearing or awaiting results of final examination are not eligible.
Minimum Age Limit: 18 Years Maximum Age limit: 35 Years Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.
For all candidates except those mentioned in sub-para (ii) below: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) only with a provision for refunding Rs. 400/- to candidates actually appearing in the written examination). The IPO should be drawn in favour of PFA/NF Railway, and payable at Maligaon Post Office, Guwahati – 781011. Candidates must write their names & full address in the IPO. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/Ex. Servicemen/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), Women, Minorities and Economic Backward Classes: Rs. 250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty) only with a provision for refunding the same to those who actually appear in the written examination.

The medium for the written examination is either Hindi or English. The minimum qualifying percentage is 40% for both Stage- I and Stage- II separately. Only on qualifying Stage- I, the candidates would be eligible for Stage- II of recruitment process. Candidates to the extent of only 5 times of the vacancies in order of merit, who have scored minimum 40% marks out of 50 marks in the written examination, shall be called for practical demonstration and marking of testimonials/prizes etc. The merit list of written examination shall be criterion for short listing. After clearing the Stage- I and Stage- II and after recommendation of the Recruitment Committee, the candidate would be sent for medical examination at Railway Hospital as per order of merit order. It is mandatory for such a candidate to be declared fit in the prescribed medical category, by Railway Medical Authority, as applicable for the offered post. For Written Test, question will be objective type of multiple choice, which may include General Knowledge, General Science, General Mathematics, Knowledge of General English & Hindi Language, Professional knowledge, Reasoning and Aptitude etc. Duration for Written Test is – 60 minutes and qualifying percentage in Written Test is 40%. Assessment of talent would be in the relevant cultural discipline, on the basis of Practical Demonstration and on the basis of Testimonials / Prizes etc. The time and venue of written examination, Practical Demonstration/document verification will be fixed by the Railways and will be intimated to the eligible candidates in due course. No request for postponement of written test/practical demonstration/document verification will be entertained under any circumstances.
