All Multi Tasking Staff posts carry Level-1 pay scale [Rs.18,000-56,900] as per 7th CPC. Total emoluments are approximately Rs.36,000/- per month on minimum of scale including admissible allowances in ‘Y’ class city.
Minimum Age: 18 years. Maximum Age: 25 years. Upper age limit relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC(NCL) where posts are reserved for these categories, as per Government of India orders in force. Age relaxation of 10 years (15 years for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC(NCL)) for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as per applicable rules. Relaxation for Ex-servicemen as per Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules and related Government instructions.

Shortlisting of candidates by a Committee constituted by the Director, CSIR-NML, based on fulfillment of qualification, terms and conditions of the advertisement; only shortlisted candidates will be allowed to appear in the Competitive Written Examination. Selection will be made on the basis of merit list of Competitive Written Examination. Competitive Written Examination will be Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination, with questions in English and Hindi (except English language section), standard of Class X, total 150 questions and total time of 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe). The paper will have four parts: Part I General Intelligence (25 questions, 75 marks), Part II Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions, 75 marks), Part III General Awareness (50 questions, 150 marks), Part IV English Language (50 questions, 150 marks), with three marks for every correct answer and one negative mark for every wrong answer. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in Competitive Written Examination, with tie resolved by lesser negative marks, older age, earlier acquisition of minimum educational qualification, and alphabetical order of first name.
The applicant must be a citizen of India and must possess the essential qualification and fulfill all conditions stipulated in the advertisement; minimum essential qualification is compulsory even if higher qualification is possessed. The age limit for Multi Tasking Staff is 18-25 years with relaxations as per Government/CSIR rules; crucial date for determining age, qualifications, experience and reserved category status is the closing date for receipt of online applications. All new entrants will be governed by the New Pension Scheme as adopted by CSIR; the post carries usual allowances (DA, HRA, TA) and benefits such as medical reimbursement, LTC, advances, and CSIR residence allotment as per rules. Normal place of posting is CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur, including centres at Chennai and Digha (West Bengal), but appointees can be posted in any CSIR Lab/Institute or its centres in India at the discretion of competent authority.
