Essential Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Material Science & Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace engineering/Metallurgical Engineering or Master’s degree in Material Science & Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace engineering/Metallurgical Engineering or technology from a recognized university or equivalent. Three years’ experience in Research and development in industrial/academic institution / research and technology organization and scientific activities and services. Desirable Qualification: Proven hands-on experience with advanced mechanical characterization instruments (Universal Tribometer, Micro Hardness Tester, Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA)). Experience in sample preparation, microstructural studies, and surface treatment techniques. Familiarity with thermal, fatigue, and creep testing protocols. Sound understanding of ASTM/ISO testing standards.
Fellowship: ₹67,000 per month + HRA. An increment of 5% is applicable for every 2 years of experience, subjected to performance review.
Maximum age: 40 years for UR candidate. Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and women candidates as per Government of India (GoI) norms.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit and project requirements. Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the interview date (no physical interview letters will be sent). Selection is based on the interview performance.
The post is purely under a sponsored project, temporary in nature, with a tenure of 3 years. Mere possession of minimum qualification does not guarantee an invitation to the interview. Candidates should make their own arrangements for their stay at Dhanbad, if required. No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview. The candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and data analysis of advanced mechanical characterization instruments.
