PhD in the discipline of Physics/ Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/ Biotechnology and Bioscience/ Bio-medical Engineering/ Photonics. Desirable: The applicant must have worked on and published papers in the fields of photonic/ plasmonic/ nanostructured sensors/biosensors/ SERS, machine learning, etc. in his/her PhD degree. Desirable: Candidates who have working knowledge of both theory and experiments in the aforementioned field will be given preference. Candidates who have recently submitted their thesis are also eligible to apply subject to the condition that they will furnish the proof of the award of Ph.D. degree at the time of interview at IIT Roorkee, if shortlisted.
Emoluments: Rs. 56000 per month (+ HRA, as per rules).

Title of the project: Development of a photonic diagnostic system for Gastro-Intestinal Infections through detection of viruses in stool using Machine-learning enabled Plasmon Enhanced Raman Sensing (GIMPERS). Sponsor of the project: ICMR. Job description: To design and develop plasmonic sensor chips for SERS based virus detection in stool samples and use machine learning for analysis.
