Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced the OPSC Dental Surgeon Recruitment 2026 for a total of 124 vacancies (including 41 women) for the post of Dental Surgeon in Group-A (Junior Branch) of Odisha Medical Services (Dental) Cadre under the Health & Family Welfare Department. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Must possess a BDS or equivalent Degree from a Medical College or Medical Institution recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). Must possess a valid Registration Certificate under the Dentist Act, 1948. Candidates having degrees from foreign universities must possess required Conversion Certificates recognized by DCI.
Houseman-ship/Internship Completion Certificate Certificate relating to passing of the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examinations (for candidates from foreign universities) Odia language test pass certificate, or must pass the required Odia examination within 4 years of joining service
Candidate must be able to read, write, and speak Odia and must have fulfilled any one of the following:
Passed Middle School Examination in Odia as a language subject; OR Passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Odia as medium of examination in non-language subject; OR Passed in Odia as language subject in the final examination of Class-VII or above; OR Passed a test in Odia in Middle English School standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department.
Proviso: If a candidate has not passed Middle School Examination in Odia as a language subject, he/she shall be required to pass the examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha within 4 years of joining service. Failing this, no further increment will be sanctioned and promotion to Group-A (Senior Branch) will not be allowed.

A candidate who comes under more than one category shall be eligible for only one benefit of upper age relaxation, whichever is more beneficial. Exception: PwBD candidates belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories shall be eligible for 15 years cumulative age relaxation. Date of birth in High School Certificate or equivalent certificate issued by the concerned Board/Council will only be accepted. Save as provided above, the age limits prescribed can in no case be relaxed.
Selected candidates will be appointed in Level-12, Cell-1 of the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2017 and will also be entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA) and other admissible allowances as sanctioned by the Government from time to time.

Applications without payment of examination fee (except SC/ST/PwBD candidates) will be treated as incomplete and rejected. Refunds will be processed to the original mode of payment used at the time of transaction. Candidates must furnish bank account details in the online application form for refund in case of technical glitches. Bank account must remain valid and active. The Commission will not entertain correspondence regarding incorrect bank details.
The selection shall be made on the basis of a Written Test as per the Odisha Medical Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Dental Surgeons) Rules, 2022 along with Amendment Rules, 2025.

The Commission shall prepare a list of candidates in order of merit on the basis of the Written Test equal to the number of advertised vacancies. If two or more candidates secure equal marks, the candidate securing higher marks in the BDS Examination will rank higher. If marks in the BDS Examination are also equal, the candidate older in age will be placed above the younger candidate. The recommendation list shall remain valid for one year from the date of recommendation or till the next recruitment is made by the Commission. A Sports Person must secure the qualifying marks of his/her category for inclusion in the merit list.
Provisional Answer Keys shall be uploaded on the website within 10 days of examination. Candidates can submit objections/suggestions against the provisional answer key. Candidates who do not challenge the provisional answer key shall forfeit their right to agitate the matter later. Cut-off marks, answer keys, and individual marks will be declared only after publication of the final result and select list.

Submit the application well before the last date to avoid last-hour rush. If any correction is needed after submission, the candidate must cancel the previous application and apply afresh within the closing date. Applications submitted through offline mode, email, or post will not be accepted. Uploaded documents must be clearly visible; otherwise, the application may be rejected. Keep at least four copies of the same passport size photograph used in the application. Ensure all details are correct because the application process is automated and system driven.
Applications must be submitted in online mode only through https://opsc.gov.in from 17 March 2026 to 17 April 2026 (5:00 PM).
The Admit Card will be uploaded on the OPSC website before the exam date. Candidates must download and produce the admit card at the examination centre. No separate communication will be made for admit card issuance. Notice for document verification shall also be uploaded on the OPSC website. Candidates qualified in the written exam must bring hard copy of the online application along with self-attested copies and originals of all required certificates for verification. Each document copy must mention: “Submitted by me and Certified as genuine and has not been cancelled” with full signature and date. Government servants must inform their Head of Office in writing and furnish a No Objection Certificate during document verification. Candidates debarred by OPSC, UPSC, or any other State PSC will not be eligible to apply during the debarment period. Admission to the written examination will be purely provisional. Any complaint regarding conduct of examination must be sent to the Grievance Wing by email within 7 days of completion of examination.
