Qualifications & Essential qualifications: Must have passed Master's/ Bachelor's degree in Library Science with minimum 55% marks from a recognized University/Institute. Desirable: Preference shall be given to candidates possessing an LL.B qualification. Selected candidates must acquire a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Library and Data Management or Library Automation and Networking within two years of joining, if they do not already have it. Experience: Internal employees of the High Court require a minimum of five years of experience in any cadre to apply internally.
The pay scale for Assistant Librarian is Rs. 35,400/- under Level-6 of the Pay Matrix, plus usual allowances as admissible.
General candidates shall not be less than 25 years and not more than 35 years of age on the last date of submission of application. Age relaxation of 10 years over the prescribed upper age limit for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. Age relaxation for Ex-servicemen is by the number of years equal to Defence service plus 3 years. There is no upper age limit for existing employees of the High Court.
General and SC/ST/BC of areas/States other than Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh: ₹1000/-. SC/ST/BC of areas/States of Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh: ₹800/-. Ex-Servicemen and Person with Benchmark Disabilities: ₹800/-. The selection is based on a Common Competitive Examination comprising a Written Examination and Viva-Voce. The written exam has 150 objective type multiple choice questions (Library & Info Science, GK, English, Hindi, Punjabi). Candidates must score at least 50% in the written exam to qualify for the Computer Proficiency Test. The Computer Proficiency Test (Word processing/Spreadsheet) is qualifying in nature (40% minimum in each test) and marks are not counted in final merit. Candidates qualifying the computer test will be shortlisted for a 50-mark Viva-Voce (minimum 40% needed). Final selection is based on the total marks obtained in the Written Test and Viva-Voce.
Candidates working in Govt/Semi-Govt departments must submit the original application form along with a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC). OBC certificates will only be accepted if issued by the competent authority of Punjab/Haryana/UT Chandigarh for the current financial year.
