Visakhapatnam Port Authority reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reasons thereof. Candidates, if appointed will be governed by the terms & conditions drawn for the post, by Visakhapatnam Port Authority. 1. The Marine Engineers should report to S.M.E and work in F.C. Section under the control of Deputy Conservator, V.P.A., or any other higher official as required and normally he will be posted to work in shifts to supervise the Operation and Maintenance of Shipping Tugs, Dredgers, Floating Crane and High-powered Launches. They shall, at all times, maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty. 2. The tenure of the engagement shall be for a period of 3 years from the date of joining the duty / service. 3. The Marine Engineer shall execute a security bond (value equal to month salary) to the effect that he will serve in Visakhapatnam Port Authority as Marine Engineer on contract basis for a period of 03 years from the date of joining the duty / service. 4. The contract engagement shall not confer on him any right to lay claim to permanent absorption in the port service against any post whatsoever. 5. 12 days leave will be provided for one year, the leave will be granted on pro-rata basis. Prior permission should be obtained from the Competent Authority for leaves, in the event of absence / late coming, the remuneration will be paid on pro-rata basis, for the actual days / hours of working. Deduction of proportionate amount calculated on the basis of monthly emoluments divided by 30. 6. Accommodation at Port Quarters will be provided subject to availability on payment of License fee as revised from time to time (at present Rs.1490/- p.m.) and electrical & water charges at actuals. 7. The services of Marine Engineers are terminable on one month notice on either side, V.P.A., has got every right to rescind the contract at any time without assigning any reasons. 8. Medical treatment facility will be provided only for the contract Marine Engineer, his spouse and children at G.J.H. 9. The Marine Engineers should make their own arrangements of transport for attending and leaving the Working area. 10. They have to attend to any other works allotted / directed by the S.M.E / Deputy Conservator from time to time, depending upon the exigencies of work. 11. The Marine Engineers shall indemnify the Board in respect of any loss / damage or any contingency caused to the Port Authority. 12. Any other conditions which are to be required will be inserted by V.P.A., by serving a notice to the Marine Engineer to meet the requirements of the exigencies during the contract period. 13. Any disputes arising out of and during the contract period between V.P.A., and Marine Engineers, the same shall be referred to Chairperson, V.P.A., whose decision shall be final and cannot be questioned by the Marine Engineers. 14. In addition to the above, the contract Marine Engineer must take note of the fact that his engagement to the post of Marine Engineer on contract basis shall be subject to his being medically fit for the duties to be performed in the said post. Therefore, the candidate selected for engagement as Marine Engineer on contract basis will, at the first instance, have to report to the Chief Medical Officer of the Port Trust Hospital of this Port to undergo necessary medical examination prior to joining for duty as Marine Engineer on contract basis at this Port. 15. The V.P.E (Temporary Service) Regulations, 1991, w.e.f.26-07-1991 shall not apply to candidates engaged on contract, as per Para-3 (1) of the said Regulations. 16. Income Tax as applicable will be recovered from the consolidated remuneration as per the extant I.T. rules. Revised Terms and Conditions
